Angry Birds Project |
For this project, we wanted to learn about forces, Newtons Laws, and gravity. To do so we made real life Angry Bird levels. We could make a slingshot, a catapult or a trebuchet. I did neither of those, nor any other component. I was a Team Leader, meaning that I was in charge of two different groups, and their progress and learning through this project. More a support type person. During the research part of this project I helped my groups learn how these types of launchers work, what forces we are going to need for these launchers. Then during the building phase, I helped my groups with everything they needed, like just an extra hand.
This is a visual representation of one of my groups product. It shows the forces being applied to the projectile, a frozen potato. For a trebuchet to work the shorter side of the throwing arm has to pushed, thrown or pulled down to make the other side go up, hence throwing the projectile forward. Think of throwing a baseball with a straight arm, not bend in the elbow.
In this project I learned how to work well with many different people at a time, and get them to listen to you. One way was to know them well so that talking to them is not awkward. Another way is listen to what their ideas are, not only just go with your own ideas.
