99 Seconds of change |
Operation Schtad
We had to choose a modern day issue, either big or small, local or international. I chose a local issue, expanding the trolley system into the beach cities in San Diego. I wanted something local that I could actually make a difference about. Researching was the most challenging, but once I found reputable sources the facts were easy to organize(FACT SHEET).
Then we wrote a persuasive business letters to the organization that is in our subject. I wrote to San Diego MTS because they are the ones in charge of the expansion. I haven't received a response back.
For the final product of this project we had to make a 99 second informational video of our subject, but for this my partner and I chose his subject, which is building the San Diego Chargers a new stadium. For this video, my partner and I wrote a 2 column script for the audio. I was the voice, and he and I both edited the audio till it was perfect. We then used Final Cut X as the software for the video editing.

Alongside the audio we used pictures that matched with the video. Editing them to fit into perfect timing and placement was one of the most difficult but proud moments. Once completed we uploaded them to YouTube for anyone to see.
Reflection
The most valuable thing I learned was patience and video editing skills. Asking for critique and advice from peers really helped in the editing stage. My best advice is if you ever think there's enough picture, just add more. Our teachers we're constantly checking on us and helping us if we had any struggles.
